Review: SixThirteen by Chaz Dean Daily Cleansing Treatment

Hey gals! I’m back for another product review. If you’re a frequent reader, you know I love Wen by Chaz Dean. I’ve tried multiple products from the line, and I’ve liked every single one. So…I’ve been eyeballing the SixThirteen Daily Cleansing Treatment since it was introduced, last year I believe. Well, love from afar no more, I got it, and I LOVE it. Let’s get to it.

Review: Wen Winter Vanilla Mint Cleansing Conditioner

Spa-like shower experience? Check. Delicious smell? Check. Cleans effectively without stripping my hair? Check. Conditions my hair, leaving it soft and moisturized? Check. The newest addition to the Wen Cleansing Conditioner lineup, Winter Vanilla Mint is my absolute favorite Wen product to date.

Review: Wen Fall Ginger Pumpkin Cleansing Conditioner

It’s that time again, review time! As you all probably know by now, I gave up sulfates long ago, they’re drying and damaging and just aren’t very good for your hair. The very first product I ever used that was sulfate-free was Wen Sweet Almond Mint Cleansing Conditioner, and since then have used several of the other Wen cleansers. I’ve liked everyone I’ve tried, and the newest addition is no exception; Fall Ginger Pumpkin. 

Wen Fall Ginger Pumpkin is similar to the other Wen Cleansing Conditioners, but also completely different. It’s got the same amount of slip, which is great for detangling, and it gets foamy/frothy just like the others. But the things I noticed that really set Fall Ginger Pumpkin apart were how much more moisturizing it is, and how much creamier it’s consistency is. Sweet Almond Mint, Lavender, and Pomegranate are white in color and very thick, more of a balm than cream. Fall Ginger Pumpkin on the other hand is very, very creamy and rich.

Wen Fall Ginger Pumpkin has been great for counteracting the dryness that Fall brings out in my hair. My hair is dry year-round, but cold weather brings out Sahara qualities like nothing else. 

I'm sure you can guess from the name Fall Ginger Pumpkin, as to what the smell is like. I thought it'd smell more like food or something, but it really doesn't. I don't know that I can actually describe the scent, it doesn't remind me of any Pumpkin scents I've ever smelled, so I'm guessing it's strong on the Ginger. It's sort of a spicy smell, which I like. However, I can guarantee that because it's a strong enough scent, it's something you'll either love or hate.

So ladies, Wen Fall Ginger Pumpkin has been another hit for me, I love how moisturizing it is, but I'm a little sad that it's limited edition. If you've tried it, leave me a comment and let me know what you thought!

Review: Wen Pomegranate Cleansing Conditioner

Hey ladies! I’m back, and while I’ve been out I’ve started a new product affair, and I’m not ashamed to say it. The product I’m talking about is none other than, Wen Pomegranate Cleansing Conditioner. Wen Pomegranate is the newest addition to the Wen lineup, and if you’ve read my blog before, you may know Wen is how I got hooked on a “No-Poo” routine.


Months ago, I was up late one night, watching QVC, and Chaz Dean was on. I’ve used Wen products multiple times in the past, but when I saw Chaz talking about a new product, I was hooked. I wanted to try it then, but it was only being released on QVC, and only in a 6 oz. size. Now, for me, I don’t have any desire to try a product, love it, and then not be able to get it in a size that will last. So I flipped the channel. Well, thankfully a few weeks ago I was sent the 16 oz. size to try and review for you ladies.

According to ChazDean.com, Wen Pomegranate is a universal cleanser, for all hair types. It gives moisture, hydration, shine, bounce, and builds body, and volume.

So, of course I used it as soon as I got it. I immediately noticed some differences between the Pomegranate Cleansing Conditioner, and a few of the other Wen Cleansing Conditioners that I’ve tried. The first thing I noticed was the smell, it smells good, but definitely has a more minty/menthol smell then the Sweet Almond Mint. The second thing I noticed was that once you add a smidge more water to it, it’s a lot more foamy/frothy than the other Wen products. If you cowash, or have used Wen, you probably know what I’m talking about. So I did my normal shower routine, and then rinsed. I used about half a pump as a leave-in, and continued with my normal hair routine. I have to say, the smell of the Pomegranate Cleansing Conditioner lingers, which I like. I could still smell it in my hair after my hair was completely dry. It wasn’t a strong smell, just clean.

Wen Pomegrante Cleansing Conditioner boasts some great ingredients; Aloe Vera leaf juice, Pomegranate Extract, Rosemary Leaf Extract, Chamomile Extract, Marigold Flower Extract, and Wild Cherry Fruit Extract, to name a few.

I have to say I really liked Wen Pomegranate. It did what it said it would. My hair felt soft and moisturized, without being weighed down. I’ve been using it now for 3 weeks or so, and the results are great.

Hello, I'm back again, this time to talk more about the Wen Hair Care System in it's most known formulation; Sweet Almond Mint. If you haven't seen the infomercial by now, then you must be living under a rock, or you don't have kids, and therefore you aren't up at the crack of dawn on Saturday mornings.

 In any case let's do a quick run down; the Wen Hair Care System will wash and condition your hair in one step and no, it isn't a 2-in-1 shampoo/conditioner. It's a whole different way of even thinking about hair care, you do not need shampoo, it is harmful to the overall health of your hair and scalp. Blame your shampoo for those numerous bad hair days you have, and ditch it! Wen is a cleansing conditioner, it's basically the consistency of a thick conditioner. It adds moisture, body, and shine. And it works on any type of hair.

You put it on wet hair, work it in, add a little water, and scrub your hair like you would with normal shampoo. Massage your scalp and make sure you work it in really well, and make sure you use enough, or your defeating the purpose. Now, leave it in your hair for the remainder of your shower. Rinsing the Wen cleansing conditioner out should be the last step of your shower, and you should rinse for 1-2 minutes. Once you've rinsed completely, take 1-2 pumps of Wen and put them in your hair as a leave-in. Done!

Let's make a few distinctions between what you're used to and Wen cleansing conditioner:

  It will not lather, because it isn't shampoo. The harmful sulfates and detergents in shampoo are what make it lather, and therefore wash away the natural oils that your scalp produces and needs.

  You have to use enough of it or your defeating the purpose, it does turn frothy or foamy, and you must make sure that you're using enough or you won't get your hair thoroughly cleansed.
  
  
  
• 
  
  You must make sure you rinse it completely. I know sometimes with normal shampoo and conditioner, you may not rinse your conditioner all the way out, so that your hair is soft. However, with Wen if you don't rinse it completely, you're not going to remove all the dirt that it is washing away.

  I know there's a lot of talk on the internet about how pricey Wen is, however if you think about all the products that it replaces, it is completely cost effective. You'll no longer need to buy; shampoo, conditioner, leave-in, deep treatments, and some styling products. Wen costs around $30 a month, and I know I spend more than that on all those other products in a month.

  If you have kids, and are constantly worrying about getting shampoo in their eyes, or wondering what chemicals your using to wash their hair, or they have allergies, then get Wen! Wen is so gentle, and effective.

Review: Wen Hair Care System by Chaz Dean in Lavender

Hello gorgeous!! I'm back to talk to you dolls about Wen, as we all know that I absolutely love Wen, and co-washing in general. I was recently given the opportunity to try out Wen all over again, in a different formula; Lavender. The Lavender Cleansing Conditioner is for all hair types, but is extremely beneficial for dry, damaged, and wavy to curly hair.

The products I tried are the Lavender Cleansing Conditioner, Lavender Styling Creme, and the Lavender Volumizing Treatment Spray. They all smell exactly like freshly cut lavender. The first thing I noticed was that the Lavender Cleansing Conditioner left my scalp feeling cool, and refreshed, and my hair was super soft. The Sweet Almond Mint Cleansing Conditioner didn't really leave my scalp feeling cool, so this was definitely different than what I'm used to. The Lavender Styling Creme didn't seem any different to me than the Sweet Almond Mint one, besides the smell of the product. Now as far as I know, the Lavender line is the only one that includes a Volumizing Treatment Spray, which says it can be used on wet hair for more volume, or dry hair as a finishing spray.

I really liked all the products, my hair was left entirely clean, and so soft. I recently went to get my hair cut, and ended up with an inverted bob, which isn't what I asked for or wanted. So now, my hair is too short in the back to wear it curly, so I'm back to flat-ironing, which is so, so sad. However, I used nothing but Wen products, and my hair looked great, it was shiny and bouncy, and smelled good. What more could a girl ask for?

Washing Your Hair With Conditioner.............What!?!?

Ladies! Awhile back I mentioned that you could use Suave conditioner in place of Wen Cleansing Conditioner to cleanse your hair. Well, I do still use my beloved Wen Cleansing Conditioner, however, with the economy the way it is, who can afford a $30 bottle of conditioner?

So I did some research and found an great article on The Beauty Brains website about other options, and they recommended using Suave or VO5, as they're both ridiculously cheaper and actually clean your hair better.

Curly ladies know, that silicones are the enemy, although I admit some of my hair products contain silicones. I also still shampoo, with Everpure, once a week or so to remove silicone build-up. Well, as it turns out Wen Cleansing Conditioner has silicone in it, which will build-up on your hair and eventually lead to frizz and weigh your hair down. Suave conditioner on the other hand has more ingredients in it that actually cleanse the hair, and no silicones that will cause build-up. So for like $2 a bottle you can get potentially better results.

Cleansing your hair with conditioner is really easy, and doesn't take any longer than traditional washing. Basically, rinse your hair really well when you first get in the shower. Then get an appropriate amount of conditioner for your hair length, this may take a few tries to figure out. It will take more conditioner than you would normally use, but not an ungodly amount, unless you have a lot of hair. Work the conditioner through your hair, and add a small amount of water to your hair. If you have the right amount of conditioner, it should start feeling sort of foamy, not a lather at all, just foamy or frothy. Now, scrub your head the same way you would with shampoo. What I like to do at this point is actually comb any tangles out of my hair. Once you've scrubbed to your heart's desire, either rinse and use your normal conditioner as usual, or leave the cleansing conditioner on for the remainder of the shower, and rinse. Done! See, that was easy!

One of the things that I love most about using Suave as a cleansing conditioner instead of Wen; all of the scent options. You can changes smells daily and still save money!

So you’ve seen the infomercials, or heard the buzz, but what exactly is the Wen hair care system? How does it work? What’s included for $29.95, and what’s the catch? Well, Wen is a revolutionary way to cleanse your hair without harsh shampoo, condition your hair, and keep your color from fading, all with one product. For basically $30, you get all the hair products that you should need to have fantastic looking hair.

The Wen cleansing conditioner is a revolutionary way to cleanse and condition your hair at the same time. The detergents and sulfates that regular shampoo contain are actually damaging you hair, because they’re stripping away your hair’s natural oils. Not only is regular shampoo damaging your hair, but if you color your hair it’s actually washing away your hair color. Wen cleansing conditioner incorporates cleansing agents, which are gentle and effective, and conditioning agents, which allow you to essentially wash and condition your hair at the same time.

Now the big question, well how do I use it? The first thing you need to do is rinse your hair for one to two minutes. This should wash away quite a bit of residue and prep your hair for the cleansing conditioner. Then you need to find the right amount of the Wen cleansing conditioner for your hair type and length. The Wen cleansing conditioner comes in a pump bottle, so count the number of pumps it takes you to saturate your hair with Wen. This is your ideal amount to use every time. Next, work the Wen cleansing conditioner through your hair, just like you would normal conditioner. Now add a small amount of water to your hair, and keep working the cleansing conditioner through your hair. Once the cleansing conditioner becomes sort of foamy or frothy, don’t add any more water to your hair. Now “wash” your hair just like you would with normal shampoo, and leave the cleansing conditioner on for the remainder of your shower, rinsing should be your last step. Make sure to rinse completely, as this is vital to make sure that your hair doesn’t appear oily.

The Wen cleansing conditioner can also be used as a leave-in, which will not only condition your hair even more, but will aid in styling.

Well, what do I get for $29.95? The styling crème is awesome, it eliminates frizz, adds body and volume, and leaves your hair soft and shiny. The intensive hair repair mask is also an amazing treatment for your hair.

So, what’s the catch? There isn’t any catch, however if you’ve dealt with Gunthy-Renker in the past you know that everyone one of their products enrolls you in an auto-delivery program. If you don’t want to have the Wen system shipped to you automatically, then simply call as soon as you receive your first shipment, and cancel your enrollment.

The one drawback about Wen that I’ve noticed, and it comes up frequently, is that if you use the cleansing conditioner exactly as directed, there’s no way it’s going to last as long as they say. My best advice is to only use the amount that your hair actually needs.

Review: Wen Hair Care by Chaz Dean

Okay, okay, I was sucked into the infomercial hype for Wen Hair Products by Chaz Dean. I have very dry, very curly hair that I color about once a week, as you can imagine this has led to some bad hair days. However, after watching the infomercial for Wen Hair Products I talked my husband into buying it for me, for my birthday last year. I waited patiently for a couple of weeks for the products to arrive and I immediately showered and used only the Wen system and WOW. My hair hasn't looked this good since..........ever.Not only does Wen by Chaz Dean make my hair soft, shiny, and manageable, but I don't need to use any of the products that I was using before. Granted this stuff ain't cheap $29.95 a month, but, for ladies with hair like mine, it's worth every penny. I will say that I don't follow the package directions because I would be out the cleansing conditioner within a week. I still shampoo my hair, with regular shampoo about once a week, and I use Wen as directed about once a week. The rest of the time I just use the Cleansing Conditioner as a leave-in. Even without using it like it says, my hair looks amazing, and I'm not exaggerating.

Although I do love the product, it is a bit pricey. I've done some Internet research on using conditioner to cleanse or "wash" you hair, and I found out that a bottle of good ol' Suave conditioner will work just as well, if not better than Wen at actually cleansing your hair without shampoo.
