Review: Wen Fall Ginger Pumpkin Cleansing Conditioner

It’s that time again, review time! As you all probably know by now, I gave up sulfates long ago, they’re drying and damaging and just aren’t very good for your hair. The very first product I ever used that was sulfate-free was Wen Sweet Almond Mint Cleansing Conditioner, and since then have used several of the other Wen cleansers. I’ve liked everyone I’ve tried, and the newest addition is no exception; Fall Ginger Pumpkin. 

Wen Fall Ginger Pumpkin is similar to the other Wen Cleansing Conditioners, but also completely different. It’s got the same amount of slip, which is great for detangling, and it gets foamy/frothy just like the others. But the things I noticed that really set Fall Ginger Pumpkin apart were how much more moisturizing it is, and how much creamier it’s consistency is. Sweet Almond Mint, Lavender, and Pomegranate are white in color and very thick, more of a balm than cream. Fall Ginger Pumpkin on the other hand is very, very creamy and rich.

Wen Fall Ginger Pumpkin has been great for counteracting the dryness that Fall brings out in my hair. My hair is dry year-round, but cold weather brings out Sahara qualities like nothing else. 

I'm sure you can guess from the name Fall Ginger Pumpkin, as to what the smell is like. I thought it'd smell more like food or something, but it really doesn't. I don't know that I can actually describe the scent, it doesn't remind me of any Pumpkin scents I've ever smelled, so I'm guessing it's strong on the Ginger. It's sort of a spicy smell, which I like. However, I can guarantee that because it's a strong enough scent, it's something you'll either love or hate.

So ladies, Wen Fall Ginger Pumpkin has been another hit for me, I love how moisturizing it is, but I'm a little sad that it's limited edition. If you've tried it, leave me a comment and let me know what you thought!

Review: Wen Pomegranate Cleansing Conditioner

Hey ladies! I’m back, and while I’ve been out I’ve started a new product affair, and I’m not ashamed to say it. The product I’m talking about is none other than, Wen Pomegranate Cleansing Conditioner. Wen Pomegranate is the newest addition to the Wen lineup, and if you’ve read my blog before, you may know Wen is how I got hooked on a “No-Poo” routine.


Months ago, I was up late one night, watching QVC, and Chaz Dean was on. I’ve used Wen products multiple times in the past, but when I saw Chaz talking about a new product, I was hooked. I wanted to try it then, but it was only being released on QVC, and only in a 6 oz. size. Now, for me, I don’t have any desire to try a product, love it, and then not be able to get it in a size that will last. So I flipped the channel. Well, thankfully a few weeks ago I was sent the 16 oz. size to try and review for you ladies.

According to ChazDean.com, Wen Pomegranate is a universal cleanser, for all hair types. It gives moisture, hydration, shine, bounce, and builds body, and volume.

So, of course I used it as soon as I got it. I immediately noticed some differences between the Pomegranate Cleansing Conditioner, and a few of the other Wen Cleansing Conditioners that I’ve tried. The first thing I noticed was the smell, it smells good, but definitely has a more minty/menthol smell then the Sweet Almond Mint. The second thing I noticed was that once you add a smidge more water to it, it’s a lot more foamy/frothy than the other Wen products. If you cowash, or have used Wen, you probably know what I’m talking about. So I did my normal shower routine, and then rinsed. I used about half a pump as a leave-in, and continued with my normal hair routine. I have to say, the smell of the Pomegranate Cleansing Conditioner lingers, which I like. I could still smell it in my hair after my hair was completely dry. It wasn’t a strong smell, just clean.

Wen Pomegrante Cleansing Conditioner boasts some great ingredients; Aloe Vera leaf juice, Pomegranate Extract, Rosemary Leaf Extract, Chamomile Extract, Marigold Flower Extract, and Wild Cherry Fruit Extract, to name a few.

I have to say I really liked Wen Pomegranate. It did what it said it would. My hair felt soft and moisturized, without being weighed down. I’ve been using it now for 3 weeks or so, and the results are great.

Review: Salon Care Honey & Almond Conditioner

Salon Care Conditioner comes in two varieties; honey & almond, and apple pear. I picked up the honey & almond on my last trip to Sally’s. It’s got decent ingredients for being so cheap, and it smells great. The consistency is a cross between the runniness of V05 and the thickness of Suave Coconut. I bought a pump to go with it, because honestly, who wants to maneuver a gallon of conditioner every time they shower? No one.


So of course, I tried it as soon as I got it, which was right after I henna’d last time, and I wasn’t impressed with the slip, at all. However, I thought that maybe since I’d just done a henna treatment, my hair may need some time to get back to normal, as it always feels a little bit more tangly after henna. I kept trying it for more than a week, and the results have been the same every time; no slip. I need slip, and I need my cowash to get frothy and sort of bubbly. This really didn’t do either one for me, so unfortunately it’s been relegated to a shaving cream. On the bright side, I won’t need shaving cream for a year or more.

If it seems to good to be true, it probably is………

Review: Tigi Moisture Maniac Conditioner

Tigi Moisture Maniac is one of those conditioners that's been around long enough that most of us have heard of it, whether we've used it or not. I had some store credit at Ulta, and they were having one of their awesome Buy 2 Get 2 Free Liter Sales, so I decided to pick up some Moisture Maniac and Oatmeal & Honey Conditioner. I'm always in need of conditioner, whether it's a rinse-out, deep treatment, leave-in, or even a cowash.

Tigi Moisture Maniac Conditioner is silicone-free, which as you may already know, I search for. It smells sweet and fruity, but not overpoweringly so. It is incredibly slippery, and makes my hair soft, soft, soft. It certainly delivers enough moisture for my strands, although I'm certain it won't for everyone. It makes a perfect rinse-out for me during these hot, humid Oklahoma summers. In the heat and humidity, my hair simply doesn't need heavy conditioner. During the winter, I'll probably switch to using it as a cowash between Low-poo and No-Poo days. My cleansing and conditioning routine isn't really a routine at all, as I use different cleansers and conditioners almost daily. What can I say, variety truly is the spice of life.

I will say, unless you just love to rinse your money down the drain, don't bother picking up Moisture Maniac Conditioner if your intentions are to use it as a cowash only. Depending on where you purchase it, 25 oz. runs anywhere from $13-$19 a bottle, which is way too much money to spend on a cowash conditioner. Especially considering you can buy a big bottle of Suave Naturals conditioner for around $1.50. If however, you're like me and can use one conditioner for multiple things, and sometimes prefer to do so, then Moisture Maniac is well worth the cost.

Not to be a buzz kill, if like me you love Tigi Moisture Maniac, but I heard through the grapevine that Tigi is slowly revamping it's entire line. I know they discontinued the Catwalk Oatmeal & Honey line, so I wouldn't be surprised if they do away with Moisture Maniac, although only time will tell. I’ll be stocking up just in case.

 

Review: V05 Tea Therapy Vanilla Mint Tea Conditioner

Hello gals, I’m in love again, and I’m not afraid to admit it. I love V05 Tea Therapy Vanilla Mint Tea Conditioner. It smells fabulous, and is a great, really cheap co-wash.

I haven’t broken up with my beloved No-Poo, but I am having an illicit affair. I alternate between the two, depending on what I’m in the mood for. I cleanse my hair everyday, I just like clean hair, I like a clean slate every time I fix it. No-Poo contains actual cleansing ingredients, and it’s not exactly cheap. I love it so much that I’m paranoid about running out of it. So I started looking for alternatives, or things I could use in conjunction with it.


Hello, V05 Tea Therapy Vanilla Mint Conditioner! I love, love, love vanilla anything. I scoured my local stores for a bottle, and was unable to find any! So I then scoured the internet and Overstock Drugstore carries it, and if you order a 3-pack, you save slightly more. I think I paid $1.30 or so a bottle, which is ridiculously cheap. When I finally got it, and used it, I was hooked! I like it more than Suave. It’s thinner, which allows for more even distribution. It almost has the consistency of a cream rinse, but it still gets frothy like Suave. I can’t say enough about it, if you co-wash, and are looking for more conditioners to add to your arsenal check out V05 Tea Therapy Vanilla Mint Tea!!!
