Hello gorgeous! So I was super duper excited about finally trying Coastal Scents Silica Powder Spheres, especially since when compared to MUFE's HD Powder it's a HUGE bargain. So I got them, and just like everyone else, the container they come in is unusable as far as putting a brush in it and picking up the powder. I quickly transferred the powder to an old bareMinerals container, and problem fixed. I followed all my normal skin routines, and makeup, and finally I was prepared to put on the Coastal Scents Silica Powder Spheres.......................amazing. This powder is truly transparent, minimizes the appearance of pores, and makes my bareMinerals last even longer without the dreaded makeup-meltdown. This powder may well be my HG finishing powder, it's that good. I'm constantly on the lookout for the BBD (bigger, better deal) but I think I've found it. I highly recommend picking some of this up for yourself. Coastal Scents Silica Powder Spheres can be bought here, for $4 an ounce.
Quick note; I got my order from Sephora today containing the new bareMinerals Matte! I will be using it tomorrow, and will review it sometime this week. Also in my order? MUFE HD Microfinish Powder, in a deluxe sample size. I will use it soon and compare with Coastal Scents Silica Powder Spheres.

Review: bareMinerals Matte Foundation
Sephora Says: A revolutionary, 100% pure bareMinerals SPF 15 foundation that delivers a flawless, natural-matte finish that lasts all day and provides extraordinary skincare benefits. bareMinerals Matte SPF 15 Foundation absorbs excess oil and eliminates shine without drying your skin. It
dramatically improves the appearance of your skin through the clinically proven power of RareMinerals ActiveSoil Complex, which minimizes pores and promotes cell turnover for fresher, smoother skin, while protecting your skin from environmental damage. This groundbreaking formula is made with only the purest, highest-quality ingredients and is free of harsh chemicals and preservatives.
Mrs. Blacksten Says: Bare Escentuals bareMinerals new matte foundation has its pros and cons. I really like the fact that bareMinerals matte foundation doesn't contain bismuth oxychloride, as it can be very irritating to some women's skin, and can cause cystic acne.
Another huge plus for the bareMinerals matte is that it has no shine whatsoever, yet your skin doesn't look powdery at all. Most mineral foundations leave your skin shiny, and for women with oily skin, shine is a no-no, not a plus.
From what I can tell, the colors of the bareMinerals matte foundation are the exact same colors of the original formula, making selecting your foundation shade easier.
The biggest upgrade with bareMinerals matte is that it comes in a close able sifter jar. Everyone complained about the original bareMinerals spilling and not being a good product for travel, with bareMinerals matte the problem has been solved.
One of the biggest problems I've noticed with bareMinerals matte is it takes more foundation to get the same amount of coverage as the original formula. Unfortunately, your getting less foundation for slightly more money. The bareMinerals matte is $28 for 0.2 oz., and with the original formula it's $25 for 0.3 oz.
The new bareMinerals matte foundation can only be bought at Sephora for the time being.

Review: Tarte Lights, Camera, Splashes! Waterproof Mascara
Sephora Says: A waterproof lengthening, curling, volumizing, and conditioning mascara. Tarte Lights, Camera, Splashes! 4-In-1 Waterproof Mascara's waterproof formula gives you the bombshell lashes you love, and is guaranteed to stay put through rain, sweat or tears.

Mrs. Blacksten Says: Love, love, love! Tarte's Lights, Camera, Splashes! Waterproof Mascara is awesome; not only is it waterproof, but it does a major job of giving my lashes clean definition, and length. I have relatively long lashes as it is, but if I can emphasize that even more, I'm all for it. So far I've had no trouble with clumping, or flaking, which is a common problem with waterproof mascara. Another plus as I've mentioned before is that Tarte's Lights, Camera, Splashes! Waterproof Mascara is natural, which I love in eye products. Sometimes mascara and eyeliner tend to make my eyes water because of the chemicals, with this that is not a problem. Another thumbs up to the lovely ladies at Tarte. Tarte's Lights, Camera, Splashes! Waterproof Mascara can be bought direct through Tarte or Sephora for $18.

Review: Tarte Lock & Roll Creaseless Eyeshadow Duo

Sephora Says: A dual-ended, color-coordinated, water-resistant cream and loose eyeshadow wand. Unlike traditional cream shadows that crease and smudge, Tarte Lock & Roll Creaseless Eyeshadow is waterproof and crease proof. A new twist on the makeup artist trick, the matching loose shadow in a roller ball applicator glides easily over cream shadow to lock color in and add luminosity so color lasts all day.
Mrs. Blacksten Says: I'm not exactly sure what to think about Tarte's Lock & Roll Creaseless Eyeshadow. The "cream" is more of a liquid, close to the consistency of white-out, so it's sort of like painting your eyelid. I'm not a huge fan of cream eyeshadow, although I will say that this eyeshadow doesn't crease. I've found that it works great as an eyeshadow primer for traditional eyeshadow. The pigment that comes in this set isn't very pigmented it sort of just adds shimmer to the liquid eyeshadow once it's dry. Tarte's Creaseless Eyeshadow Duo can come in handy for many things, and is useful, although I wouldn't wear it for what it's designed and marketed for. Creaseless Eyeshadow Duo can be bought direct from Tarte or Sephora for $17, and comes in eight shades.
Review: Tarte EmphasEYES High Definition Eye Pencil

Sephora Says: A super-slim, high definition eye pencil. Tarte EmphasEYES™ High Definition Eye Pencil is a must when trying to achieve a sexy smoky eye. The result? That smoldering look that you see in all the magazines but aren't sure how to create—use this pencil for the finishing touch.
Mrs. Blacksten Says: I really, truly like this eyeliner. The thing about it that I really find useful is how thin it is, which makes tight-lining easier and less messy. Tarte's EmphasEYES eyeliners go on smooth, and stay put, another big plus; their natural. When it comes to makeup around your eye area, natural is just better, no need to worry about it making your eyes water, or causing irritation. Mrs. Blacksten gives Tarte's emphasEYES eyeliner a big thumbs up. EmphasEYES can be bought direct through Tarte or picked up at Sephora for $18.

Sorry.............
Hello lovely ladies, sorry I've been MIA for while, I've been super busy with life, and my day job. Alas, I'm back with more reviews and looks. I'm super excited about bareMinerals new matte foundation, so of course I ordered it, as soon as I've tried it I'll do a review and let you know if it's all it's cracked up to be. Also I ordered the new Coastal Scents 88 Warm Palette: I can't wait to showcase some looks with it, and see how pigmented the colors really are. I love browns and neutrals so I can't wait!!
I'm also going to be doing a review on CS Silica Powder Spheres. I don't personally buy into the whole feud over them being unsafe. If they were truly unsafe I think someone would've stepped in and forced CS and other retailers who sell them to stop selling them, or give consumers some sort of disclaimer. Check this out for some more info or google silica spheres for the truth.
Anyway, thanks for stopping by, and we'll talk soon!!
