Review: Tarte Clean Slate Primer

Sephora Says: Tarte Clean Slate Face Primer helps makeup stay in place longer while preventing creasing in fine lines and wrinkles. Unlike other primers, Clean Slate™ contains natural fruit- and plant-derived extracts to treat, protect, sooth, and hydrate the skin.
Mrs. Blacksten Says: I wasn't too impressed by this stuff. I'm fully willing to jump on the go-green bandwagon if something works, but this just didn't do it for me. Clean Slate is super thick, which made me feel like I was putting on a mask, and personally I like a light-feeling primer. Clean Slate also didn't seem to make my face last any longer than wearing nothing under my makeup at all. I don't look for a primer to fill in lines and pores, I look for something that'll give my mineral makeup more lasting power, and is also good for my skin. Clean Slate just isn't for me.
Review: Hope In a Jar Moisturizer by Philosophy
Sephora says: Philosophy Hope in a Jar is a 99.9% oil-free, deeply hydrating, lightweight wonder designed to smooth the complexion while reducing the appearance of wrinkles and discoloration. Originally created for the medical market, this expert essential delivers soft, healthy, glowing results.
Mrs. Blacksten says: Philosophy's Hope in a Jar Moisturizer is often referred to as a "cult-favorite" and I believe it. This moisturizer is insane, I've never used a moisturizer that had this consistency, or these results. Hope in a Jar moistu
rizes, exfoliates, and leaves skin glowing, literally. Hope in a Jar contains; Lauryl Lactate (Ester of Lactic Acid) which exfoliates and hydrates, Beta Glucan, which boosts your skins' own defense system and repair capabilities,Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E) to help prevent environmental damage, and Retinyl Palmitate (Vitamin A) which improves elasticity and minimizes the appearance of wrinkles. I love to go to bed with this stuff on because my skin looks great in the morning. Hope in a Jar can be a bit pricey at $38 for 2oz., but you hardly use any because a little goes a long way, and for the results, it's money well spent. I am a huge fan of Philosophy products, and what's even better; they don't test on animals!

Review: Frederic Fekkai Glossing Cream

Ladies, Frederic Fekkai Glossing Cream is amazing. This is the best hair product I have ever used in my life. This glossing cream is my Holy Grail of hair products. This cream delivers on all its promises; my hair is shiny, soft, and super manageable. I am constantly on the search for hair products that will make my naturally curly, dry hair, shiny and frizz free. I straighten my hair, wear it curly, curl it with a curling iron, and everything else you can do to your hair, so unfortunately my hair takes a lot of damage. With Frederic Fekkai's Glossing Cream my hair not only looks healthy, but it feels healthy and soft. With a lot of glossing creams your hair is left looking greasy instead of shiny, with this cream greasy hair is a thing of the past. The best thing about this high-end hair product is that it's $27.50 for 7 oz. and if you follow directions you should only need a pea-sized amount, so a tube of Fekkai's Glossing Cream should last for months and months. When you look at the numbers that's cheaper than a lot of drug-store products. Frederic Fekkai Glossing Cream works wonders and smells good-to-boot. Pick some up for yourself at Fekkai or Sephora.
