Review: Yes To Carrots Nourishing Shampoo and Pampering Conditioner

Dare I say it, I think I found a new HG shampoo (low poo) and conditioner. Now I’m not one to profess my undying love about a product unless I’m serious. When it comes to my hair, I’m serious, dead serious in fact. The most shocking thing is, they’re a drugstore product! Don’t get me wrong, I think there are plenty of great products at the drugstore, but I’m a sort of hair snob sometimes. Anywho, ladies brace yourselves, I’ve fallen madly in love with Yes To Carrots Nourishing Shampoo and Pampering Conditioner.

Review: Elucence Moisture Benefits Shampoo & Moisture Balancing Conditioner

Hello ladies, it's time again to talk about cleansing and conditioning. Today it's all about super-affordable options, Elucence Moisture Benefits Shampoo and Moisture Balancing Conditioner. Both products are silicone and glycerine-free. Let's get down to business....

Elucence Moisture Benefits Shampoo-$12 for a liter

This is a great option for wavies, or for anyone who cowashing simply doesn't work for. All winter long I cowashed and cleansed with No-Poo, and my hair stayed super moisturized. Now spring is in the air, and I've been alternating No-Poo with the Elucence and it's been great. The actual surfactants in the shampoo, meaning the actual cleansers, are completely gentle. It's free of SLS, SLES, ALS, and ALES.

I've used this now for about 2 weeks and I have to say I'm super happy with the results. My hair doesn't feel completely stripped and straw-like after cleansing with it. The lather is amazing, and it's concentrated so a little goes a long way. My hair is about an inch past my chin when wet, and I can shampoo my whole head with one pump, which is probably about silver dollar sized. I could probably use even less, but it's cheap enough that I don't feel the need to conserve it.

Moisture Benefits Shampoo works by giving your hair only the amount of moisture your hair needs, and any excess is rinsed away with the lather. It contains lipids, polysaccharides, and vitamins, so your hair stays in optimal condition. Also, it contains Peach Extract, making the smell divine.

Elucence Moisture Balancing Conditioner-$20 for a liter

The ingredients in this are great, and it has some of the most amazing slip that I've ever had. The slip is immediate and it makes detangling a breeze. The consistency is very similar to the TREsemme Naturals Conditioner, or even Suave coconut. However, once it's worked into my hair it gets frothy, like crazy frothy. If you cowash exclusively, this would be great! It's not a heavy conditioner, but it does provide moisture. For me and my hair, this would be a good conditioner year-round. The smell of this isn't quite as peachy as the shampoo, but it smells good, sort of sweet.

The Elucence Moisture Benefits Shampoo and Moisture Balancing Conditioner are a new staple for me, and if you haven't checked them out I highly recommend them. They're both super-affordable and work great. Also, they can both be purchased through CurlMart.

Okay now let's get on with the actual review. As you all know by now, I am not a fan of shampoo, as it dries my hair out and leads to frizz. However, I thought in fairness to the line, I'd buy both products and try them together, to get accurate results. I also made sure not to tweak anything else in my routine, so I'd know how good or bad the products would work.

So here it is, TRESemme Naturals Radiant Volume Shampoo: Oddly enough I liked it, I didn't love it, but it was pretty good. It did dry my hair out a little, as any shampoo would. However, it didn't leave my hair feeling like straw, but it certainly felt clean. The smell is really nice, not overpowering or chemically, just a nice sweet smell. They're supposed to have sweet orange extract in them, so I thought it would smell orangey. It didn't. It smells good, so that's always a bonus.

TRESemme Naturals Radiant Volume Conditioner: This smells really good, the shampoo and conditioner have the same scent, but I usually find that conditioners smell more strongly than shampoo. Maybe it's just me? This is a decent drug-store, silicone-free conditioner. It's not immensely moisturizing, but it has fantastic slip and it makes detangling a breeze. For someone with fine hair, like myself, this would be a great spring/summer conditioner. In the winter it wouldn't provide enough moisture though. If you have thicker or coarse hair this would make a great cowash! It's a little bit thicker than Suave Naturals, and in my opinion provides slightly better moisturization. When I rinsed this out of my hair at the end of my shower, my hair still felt soft and slippery in a way. I would repurchase this, if for nothing else, it provides slip and detangling, I can get it on the ground, it smells good, and comes in a big 25 oz. bottle. I have a family of 4, so we go through hair products pretty quickly.

All in all, these are good drugstore options for any CG's out there, or someone just looking to use gentler shampoo and silicone free conditioner.
