The Rough Patch...

What is it about having curly hair that seems to make us more prone to total product junkie overload? I cannot tell you how many products I have tried on my hair, and unfortunately a lot of them were a total bust, just awful. Some I’ve tried, and they seem to work initially, only to have them turn my hair into a rat’s nest the next time I give them a go. Then there were the ones that were horrendous from the beginning. It’s so frustrating, and frankly expensive to keep trying new things, only to have them not work, for whatever reason.

Curly ladies, why oh why are we never satisfied that we’ve found a routine that works. I can’t even commit to a conditioner. I have ten or so under my bathroom sink, and I just pick one daily. It doesn’t make any sense, I don’t need that many. I have 15+ styling products that I alternate. When my usual product seems to stop doing the trick, I switch to something else. Although frankly, I’ve yet to find another product that gives me the same results as my Kinky-Curly Curling Custard. For whatever reason, after a few weeks of using it though, it’s like my hair gets bored and wants something else. Once I’ve given it that something else, it’s like Whoa!! Nevermind, go back, go back. Aaaahhhh!

Note to my hair:

Yes, I adore you. However, you’ve become quite expensive and finicky, and I can’t keep up. I want you to look your best, but your making it difficult, and I’m ready to throw in the towel. If you want to try and hold things together, then we must reach some sort of compromise. I don’t like ultimatums, but really your leaving me no choice. We’ve been together a long time, and that means something, but it’s 2010 and I don’t have to stick around waiting on you to get your act together. If you want to fix things, then shape up……or ship out….

p.s. If you need somewhere to stay while sorting through your thoughts, then I have a fabulous hat who’d love to have a roomie.

I just bought a product line for natural hair. It's for curly hair. I haven't tried it yet. Will let you know if it works.
